Angela the Yarnspinner
International Storytelling Ambassador, Angela Davis, the Yarnspinner shares stories from her native Louisiana roots performing in well over 40 countries and continues to be in demand solely by word of mouth, traveling the world sharing original Louisiana tales and stories from around the world, world tales, and life changing stories, while helping to improve lives. She offers a bevy of programs for audiences of all ages and has performed for numerous groups. Kids and adults enjoy her lively stories that inspire the soul and tap the imagination!
Angela offers customizable workshops, performances and keynote addresses given at conferences, schools, universities and colleges, business meetings, and group venues globally, nationally, and regionally since 1992. This year, Angela was the United States representative for the Hungarian Holnemvolt International Storytelling Festival in Budapest, in March 2011 and performed for the Rotterdam Storytelling Festival in the Netherlands, the Cambridge Folk Festival in England, the Russian Storyfest in Archangelsk and has performed for International schools throughout Europe as well as provided workshops and performances for the NHTV Applied Sciences University in Breda, NL, Lincoln University in Jefferson City, Missouri, Elon College in North Carolina, and the National Storytelling Network to name a few, and numerous other venues worldwide. Angela is a member of the National Storytelling Network and the International Storytelling Network, and lives in the New Orleans area and in the Netherlands.
Angela holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Dillard University, and a Masters Degree from Tulane University in teacher education. She is currently working in the Recovery School District in New Orleans in the theater arts. She has received the American Legion Award, The Danny Barker Keeping the Arts Alive award, the Great American Teacher Award and the Model Teacher Award.
