Dance Has Many Faces
This unique and vibrant program is designed to educate, inform and entertain young people in the various dance styles and traditions of numerous countries and cultures. The roots of dance are traced from their origins in basic movement. Using visual aids, colorful costumes, demonstrations and audience participation, the dances of Delta Festival Ballet take students on a tour of the world through dance.
Grades K-5

La Danse Francaise en Louisiane
Louisiana was settled as a French colony in the 1600s. As the colony grew, the settlers brought with them many aspects of the French culture such as architecture, food, religion and the arts, including dance. This program, perfect to commemorate the Louisiana Purchase, will trace the influence of French culture on dance Louisiana. The professional dancers of Delta Festival Ballet will demonstrate samples of French folk dances, French minuets, Can-Can, and classical ballet.

Delta Festival Ballet

Sports and Dance
Delta Festival Ballet presents this unique and informative program designed to educate young people by presenting dancers as athletes. Dancing and sports share attributes such as speed, coordination and teamwork which will be explored and demonstrated. Partnering, mime and storytelling will be incorporated into the program to help every student develop an appreciation for the physical strength and agility of dance.

Across the Border
In a two-person performance or in an expanded four-dancer version, Javier Juarez, a former principal dancer with the Ballet Folklorico de Mexico, will guide students on an exciting tour of the infl uence of Hispanic culture on dance. Vibrant rhythms fi ll the school as the dancers take students around the world to Mexico, Argentina and Spain as they learn about culture and dance in these fascinating countries. Technical Needs: This performance cannot be done on carpeted fl oors. Artist can provide fl ooring for extra fee.

Rhythm and Soul

Positive Thinking
This program uses dance to send students an important message about positive values for modern life. Through urban dance, theater, and explanation, Rhythm and Soul discuss topics focusing on self-improvement, positive thinking, self esteem and hard work. The dancers have performed together for six years and have performed at venues throughout the United States.

Komenka, established in 1979, for the purpose of portraying international folk cultures through dance and music has performed throughout the United States and internationally in many countries including Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, France, Hungary, Russian and the Caribbean.

Dances of the World
Recognized for their dynamic and colorful performances, Komenka presents dances from around the world. In this exciting program, beautifully costumed dancers share the unique traditions of dance and music opening the eyes of students to diverse cultures. Students learn to appreciate and respect their own and other ethnic heritages. Programs include selections from Europe, Asia and the Americas.
