Students, serving as cast and crew in this interactive program, will learn valuable lessons about the dangers of tobacco.

Frank Levy, brings the legendary Governor Huey Long to life as he interacts with the audience. Traditional music ethnic design and fascinating folk tales transport the audience to three diverse countries in this spellbinding exploration on the meaning of culture. In a presentation featuring a variety of puppetry
techniques, each central character uses a personal strength to overcome adversity. Storytelling through beautiful hand, shadow and rod puppets inspire respect and curiosity about the endless diversity of our country and world. The Fisherman and His Wife
Special Focus: Ecology, South Louisiana Culture
The program’s focus on wetlands ecology has been adapted by Calliope Puppets to a setting in south Louisiana. Real and current issues are woven into the traditional Brothers Grimm tale of the wife who asks too much of the magical fish her husband catches. Dynamic hand puppets, live regional music, and audience participation encourage understanding of the effect human decisions have on the environment. Shoestring Players
Shoestring Payers is a touring company that brings live theatre to audiences of all ages. The company was founded in 2001 by Bonnie Knowles who holds a Master’s Degree in vocal music performance and has performed leading roles in musical theatre and in children’s theatre. A third exciting program will be available in October. Call for details.

Tales of the Bayou
Louisiana folk tales have been passed down for generations. Many are a mixture of African and French folklore and have different versions depending upon the storyteller.The animal tales often feature a trickster known as Lapin (rabbit) and his less-clever victim Bouqui (wolf). Join with the Shoestring Players as they journey down the bayou presenting the charming and often wise stories. This colorful production features 3 actors who guarantee that all will “pass a very good time”!

T-Boy and Marie
T-Boy and Marie live on the bayou with their nasty stepmother, Maldemere. When she abandons them in the swamp the children have to fi nd their way home. The egrets eat their trail of shrimp heads and it looks like they will be lost forever until they meet the Willagator, who offers to lead them to safety. But fi rst they must help her break the spell that turned her into a swamp creature.
