Relief Printmaking
Students will learn the many
creative possibilities of relief printmaking techniques that allow them to
produce multiple copies of drawings and text. They will make original cards or
prints that they can share and exchange with fellow classmates.
Silkscreen
Silkscreen printing is
commonly used today to print onto t-shirts and other fabrics. Students will
learn the creative possibilities of silkscreening and will have the opportunity
to silkscreen images onto t-shirts or to create posters or original artworks.
They will be able to print multiple copies of their artwork so that they can
share it with classmates, friends, and family.
Bookmaking
Students will learn a variety
of bookbinding techniques in order to create their own small books and
pamphlets. This workshop can also be done in conjunction with the printing and
papermaking workshops to create books that feature students’ original artworks.
|
Papermaking
Students will learn about how
paper is made by creating some of their own. Using recycled materials, scrap
paper, plant fibers, and other additives, students will learn to make their own
colorful and creative paper. From creating the pulp to pulling the final piece
of paper from the screen, students will enjoy all parts of the papermaking
process.
By manipulating the imagery created, these workshops can be tailored to suit a particular theme.
