Grace Chan, Early Childhood Program Coordinator

As a New Orleans native, Grace recognizes art is essential to culture and has always strived to incorporate the arts during her time as a public school educator. Working with students from Pre-K to eighth grade, Grace fell in love with early elementary, receiving her Masters of Arts and certifications in elementary and early childhood education. Joining Young Audiences Charter School in 2018 expanded Grace's teaching strategies and led her to dive deep into arts integration, working regularly with Wolf Trap artists and spearheading the YACS Pre-K department in Jefferson Parish. Grace's collaboration with teaching artists spread across multiple art forms, building on her musical and visual foundations. Her belief that the arts are a critical part of human nature encourages Grace to make the arts accessible to all children, as well as continually learn, now developing her wheel throwing pottery skills. On the board of directors in the Asian Pacific American Society, Grace Chan has served as its chairperson, dedicating her time to non-profit causes.
