Community Arts and Literacy: We're Going Out to Sea!

Children will have an arts experience based on the book by Eric Carle, "Mr.Seahorse." Stop in for the highlights: Storytelling with puppets, songs about the sea, and an original yoga story.

Artform: Movement & Song

Teaching Artist: Nanette Ledet

Overview: Children will first be greeted with a naming song and several songs on the ukulele that have themes of the ocean. The artist will share the book and use puppets and manipulatives to enliven the experience, The original yoga story will follow, written by the artist and using several basic yoga poses that are adapted for children to experience with safety and fun, No special equipment will be needed; children are encouraged to wear clothing that is easy to move in.

This is part of a series with the New Orleans Public Library. Join Louisiana Wolf Trap and New Orleans Public Libraries for interactive arts education workshops, using the performing arts to explore the deep sea. While all children are welcome, this workshop is ideal for children infant to four years old.
